Mexico’s official name is the United Mexican states. Mexico’s current political system derives from the Constitution of 1917, which arose from the Mexican Revolution. The Constitution captures the ideals of the Revolution and reflects three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Constitution protects the rights of workers, peasants, and organizations. It guarantees the right to have an eight-hour workday, rights for women and children workers, and rights for minimum wage being sufficient enough to satisfy the necessities of life. In order to make a change to the constitution requires there needs to be the approval of both houses of the federal legislature and the approval of at least 17 of the 32 state legislatures. (Geo-Mexico) Mexico’s political system is a federal republic based on presidential democracy. The government has three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is the most important. The president serves a six-year term an d cannot be re-elected. The president appoints the 18 cabinet secretaries who run their ministries and they rarely ever meet. Only the president is has the power to veto bills and enforce/execute laws. Mexico does not have a vice president, the constitution provides a process by which, in the case that the president becomes vacant before the election, the Congress chooses a temporary president and then holds a new election. Nat turner Essay Nat Turner was born on October 2, 1800 as property of a small plantation owner in Southampton, Virginia. His mother strongly hated slavery, and this hate was passed down to Nat. In his early twenties he was sold to a neighboring farm. He was sold again in 1831 to the Joseph Travis family. Shortly after he was sold, he started a revolt. This occurred on August 21, 1831. This was to become the largest slave revolt in the history of the South. Turner was inspired during a solar eclipse, which he believed to be a sign that the time to strike was near. He planned to capture the armory at Jerusalem, the county seat. While en route, he planned to gather a number of slaves, and then proceed to the Dismal Swamp. Turner decided that it would be difficult to be apprehended. Turners rebellion started with seven fellow slaves whom he trusted greatly. Travis and his family were murdered in their sleep, and Turner marched to the county seat. After only the first two days of the rebellion, about 60 whites had been brutally murdered. On October 24th, an armed militia and local forces totaling over 3000 men cam to challenge Turner and the 75 slaves that supported his efforts. This force encountered Turners force a few miles outside of Jerusalem. Most of Turners force was killed or captured, however, many other innocent slaves and free blacks were killed in the confusion that followed. While Turners rebellion was put down on the 24th, Turner himself was able to elude the militia and other white for just over six weeks! Once he was captured, he was tried, convicted, and hung. While Turners rebellion was apparently a failure, he was able to convince whites in the South that slaves were not content with their living conditions. In Southampton county black people came to measure time from Nats Fray, or Old Nats War. For many years in black churches throughout the country, the name Jerusalem referred not only to the Bible but also covertly to the place where the rebel slave had met his death.

Rizal’s first teacher was his mother and she had inspired him to learn more. Soon, Rizal was sent to Ateneo Municipal in 1872 and University of Santo Thomas in 1878. Her mother taught him the story of the moth; and she told him not to be like the little moth who was fascinated with the fire and it had burned his wings and fall completely into death. Rizal not only wanted to learn everything, but he wanted to see everything. He became a physician, and he cured his mother’s eye illness. He became a novelist and wrote about the current status of the country. He became a good son and good brother in his family. In the film, Rizal’s mother was accused of attempting to poison her sister-in-law and she was imprisoned for almost two years. This is a revenge of the friars to Rizal’s family and to protect Jose Rizal, Paciano advised him not to use ‘Mercado’ anymore, and only ‘Rizal. ’ Rizal was exiled and Signor Luis Taviel de Andrade became his Defense Counsel (the brother of Jose Taviel, Rizal’s former bodyguard). Luis has unleashed the stories behind Rizal’s intent of writing the novels, his life, his relationships, his education, and his beliefs. Luis believed that as a writer, what Rizal did is not art, but propaganda. Rizal defended that what the Filipinos really wanted is recognition that Filipinos are equal with Spaniards and peaceful reforms through education and civic development. Rizal went to Europe to study medicine and do whatever is necessary to help liberate the people, as requested by Paciano. He left Leonor (his cousin and his lover) and his family to help his fellow countrymen. Rizal did well in school of medicine and he was inspired by the uprisings in Spain. Rizal’s novels stimulated uprisings in our country and some copies of it were burned by the friars. Innocent people were imprisoned by the government by illegally possessing the books of Rizal. ‘La Solidaridad’ was founded and writings about the system were once again published. Some misunderstanding happened between the members of the organization and Rizal went back to the Philippines to face the Spaniards. In Manila, Rizal founded the ‘La Liga Filipina’ in July 1892. It aims to fortify the foundations of man and his family, give importance to education and agriculture for the development of our country. Rizal was exiled at Dapitan and there he met Josephine Bracken. Monsignor Nosaleda is not contended with the exile of Rizal and he wanted him dead. He asked Governor General Blanco to execute Rizal, but refuse to do so. A new governor general, Governor General Polavieja was sent by Spain to grant Monsignor Nosaleda’s wish. The revolution sparked despite Rizal’s disapproval. For him, we are not yet ready and it is not the right time. Rizal however was charged with being the leader of the revolution and he was sentenced to death. Rizal was fired on December 30, 1896 at Bagumbayan, Manila. His family and the Filipino people mourned for his death. Filipinos joined the uprisings and with Rizal’s death, we have achieved independence on June 12, 1896. Several thinkers propose two possible ways of bringing about such improvement: first, through the selection of the hereditary elements in society, elim inating the unfit and preserving the more fit; but, such a scheme of artificial selection could be too complicated.The second method is the improvement of the individual character through education and training. Similarly the natural instincts and tendencies of individuals may be greatly modified by training, the habits and hence the character of individuals can be artificial formed and controlled through education. Education is, then, the great means of controlling habit and character in complex social groups, and as such it is the chief means to which society must look for all substantial social progress.It is the instrument by which human nature may be apparently indefinitely modified, and hence, also, the instrument by which society may be perfected. The task of social regeneration is essentially the task of education. Therefore the main reliance of society in all forward movements must be upon education. So, how the ideal educated person should look like? This is a topic that h as been discussed for years. How to decide what knowledge should be passed on to the next generation and how should it be taught?Aristotle explained, â€Å"Every acorn has the potential to be actualised as a giant oak tree, but for a variety of reasons not all acorns fulfil their potential of becoming an oak tree and too few humans attain the ideal o f becoming rational contemplative beings. Aristotle believed that nurturing the acorn at the right time in the right way could enhance the acorn’s chances of fulfilling its inherent potential. In comparison an educator, by appropriately exposing human beings to the great minds struggling with the perennial problems of humankind can enhance the human being’s natural desire to know. That is equivalent to teaching people trades and skills. But it does not give individuals a broad understanding of the world they live in. Aristotle’s notion that when engaged in contemplation a person has reached their potential should dispel any notion that a person would be happy for the rest of their life in one skill or trade. Constant contemplation would create a thirst for more knowledge that the training of a skil l would not quenched.Similarly the theorist Rousseau also saw the child early in life as an empty receptacle, waiting to be filled. He was the first to introduce the concept of child centred education and he believed that â€Å"by properly educating future generations, a society could be created that resolved the conflict between individual needs and societal demands†.
